Course Guidelines Lesson Format • Each lesson is written at 3 levels (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced). READ THEM ALL. • Each lesson has four sections (a short reading, a key word section, a conversation section, and useful phrases section), • Each unit will address all forms of communication (reading, listening, writing, and speaking). Readings • Advanced students can learn level 3 by understanding the context from levels 1 and 2. • Intermediate students can learn level 2 by understanding the context from level 1, and they can challenge themselves to learn more complex English sentences by reading level 3. • Beginners can learn level 1 by reading the “Key Word” section, and they can challenge themselves to learn more complex English sentences by reading levels 2 and 3. Key Word Section • Sometimes difficult words need to be used because of the subject matter. These words will be explained in this section. • Try to learn the meanings without a dictionary. Conversation Section • Advanced students can learn level 3 by understanding the context from levels 1 and 2. • Intermediate students can learn level 2 by understanding the context from level 1, and they can challenge themselves to learn more complex English sentences by reading level 3. • Beginners can learn level 1 by reading the “Key Word” section, and they can challenge themselves to learn more complex English sentences by reading levels 2 and 3. Useful Phrases • These phrases can be used to help guide conversations during class. Assignment (Writing/Recording/Listening/Speaking • Each student will write a short paragraph related to the topic. • After the text is corrected, a recording of students writing will be put on line for download. • Students will listen to the recording and practice speaking. • The following week, students will recite from memory. |
